Sokol clubs open doors to public across Czechia

The Sokol movement is showcasing its activities to the public within the European Week of Sport. From September 23 and 30, sports halls and facilities at more than 220 local Sokol clubs across Czechia are offering free sports programs for families with children, seniors and complete beginners.

The Sokol movement, a Czech physical education and sports organisation, was founded 164 years ago.  During the course of its history, it was banned three times: first by the Austrian authorities in 1915, then by the Nazis in 1941, and later by the Communist regime in 1956. The organisation currently has more than 162,000 members.
