Smog regulations lifted in parts of Moravia

Smog regulations which were enforced in the Ostrava, Karviná and Frýdek-Místek regions over the Christmas holidays have been lifted, following a significant improvement in the quality of air, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute reported on Monday. Regulations which force producers to scale down production were enforced after daily concentrations of dust particles in the air exceeded permitted limits more than four times. Although the situation has significantly improved, meteorologists warn that, due to adverse weather conditions, the smog situation persists to some degree and advise people to limit outdoor exercise as well as the amount of time spent outdoors.
