Slovak road hauliers to block motorway crossing between Czechia and Slovakia

Slovak road hauliers are planning to block the D2 motorway from Czechia to Slovakia on the night from Sunday to Monday in protest against the worsening conditions of their business, the Slovak media reported on Sunday, citing the Union of Road Hauliers of Slovakia.

In reaction to the news, the Czech police announce it will double the capacity for clearing trucks on the Czech side of the border crossing in Lanžhot-Kúty.

The Slovak truck drivers have been threatening to block the border crossings since February this year. They are demanding a cut in the excise tax on fuel as well as concessions on road tax to ease the impact of high oil prices on transporting companies.
