Škoda Transportation Group to deliver another 23 trams to Helsinki

Škoda Transportation Group is set to deliver 23 of its ForCity Smart Artic X54 trams to Helsinki, which a Finnish transport company plans to deploy on routes to the city districts of Yliskylä, Haakoninlahti and on the new Crown Bridges bridge system due for completion in 2026.

The company’s Artic model, which is developed and manufactured in Finland, is designed for demanding Nordic conditions. The Czech company’s Škoda Transtech plant in Otanmäki employs more than 600 people in the Kajnu region.

The new cars will be identical to the trams running on the line from Helsinki to neighbouring Espoo. There are 70 X34 trams in Helsinki, which preceded the ForCity Smart Artic X54. Another 29 vehicles on the light rail line are in production.
