Škoda official: Autonomous public transport may appear in Czechia in decade and half

Autonomous public transport should begin to appear in Czech cities and towns around 2040, the head of the digital division of Škoda Group said on Tuesday. Jiří Liberda told journalists in Prague that by then the relevant technology and legislation will be in place, while people will have got used to the idea.

Mr. Liberda said that tenders launched by public transport operators already often require the possibility of systems that eliminate accidents and reduce consumption, or are even capable of fully autonomous operation without the involvement of a driver.
