Siniaková and Townsend advance in Australian Open doubles

Defending champions Kateřina Siniaková and American Taylor Townsend advanced to the second round of the women’s doubles at the Australian Open. The pair defeated China’s Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan 7:6, 6:1.

In the next round, they will face Japan’s Miyu Kato and Hungary’s Fanny Stollár, who eliminated Jesika Malečková and Miriam Škoch after a long match.

Siniaková, a three-time Australian Open champion, is aiming to maintain her position as world number one in doubles.
