Siniaková and Krejčíková lose WTA Finals championship match

Czech tennis stars Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková did not manage to defend their title at the WTA Finals championship match in Fort Worth, Texas against Russian-Belgian pair Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens on Monday. The 26-year-old Czechs lost the doubles final 2-6, 6-4, 9-11 after an hour and 44 minutes. This was the top seeds' third time in the final of the prestigious competition.

However, the Czech duo already won three Grand Slam titles this season: the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open, and Siniaková will still finish the season as the year-end No.1 in doubles for the second year in a row and the third time in the past five years. The Czechs lost only four matches together in 2022.
