September heatwave breaks 23 records across Czechia

Czechia experienced a tropical day on Saturday, with temperatures climbing above 30 degrees Celsius. According to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, 23 out of 170 long-term weather stations recorded new daily highs for September 20. Two mountain stations — Horská Kvilda and Kvilda-Perla — even set absolute September records.

Forecasters say Sunday will be very warm again, mostly sunny, but with clouds, showers, or storms arriving from the west by evening. A sharp cooldown is expected early next week, with daytime highs likely dropping below 20 degrees by midweek.
