Senators want fast-tracking of complaint over early election date declaration
A group of Czech senators have called for the fast-tracking of a complaint at the Constitutional Court against what they say is the unusually early declaration of dates for the next general elections. They also want the justices to interview the prime minister, Andrej Babiš.
The Senators last week complained to the country’s highest court that President Miloš Zeman’s early announcement of October’s dates constitutes abuse of power; they say it benefits the parties in government and is to the detriment of newly forming electoral coalitions.
