Senate President Vystrčil: It is indifference that opens the door to violence

In a speech given in Lety in the Písek region, President of the Senate Miloš Vystrčil warned against indifference, because it opens the door to violence and genocide. He spoke at a memorial event to honour the victims of the concentration camp for Roma and Sinti people established in Lety in 1942. Over three hundred people, mostly children, died there. A memorial has stood on the site since last year.

The Holocaust Memorial of Roma and Sinti in Bohemia was opened in Lety by the Museum of Roma Culture last April. According to the museum's director, Jana Horváthová, the internal exhibition of the memorial was visited by about 10,000 people in the first year of operation.
