Senate approves special methods of voting in quarantine

Senators on Thursday approved a government bill providing special measures for people in quarantine to cast votes in the October Senate and regional elections.

The legislation allows three methods of voting under quarantine, including drive-in voting, the creation of special polling stations, such as at nursing homes, and electoral commissions that would visit people’s homes.

The new measures would only apply to people ordered by a hygiene authority or doctor to stay home during an election. The law has yet to be signed by President Miloš Zeman.
