Russian ambassador summoned to Foreign Ministry
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský has summoned Alexander Zmejevsky, the Russian ambassador to the Czech Republic, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for flagrant violations of international law and the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories, the foreign minister announced on Twitter on Monday. Mr. Lipavský said that Czechia has made it clear to Russia that they will not tolerate criminal aggression and blatant theft of territory, the Czech News Agency reports.
On Friday Russian President Vladimir Putin began the process of seizing four Ukrainian regions totalling about 15 percent of the area of Ukraine: the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions, as well as the pro-Russian separatist Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic. Ukraine and the West have rejected the annexation as illegal.
