Russia and China named as biggest cyber threats in new security strategy

For the first time, the Czech Republic’s new cybersecurity strategy explicitly names Russia and China as its main adversaries. The National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) describes Russia as the greatest direct and long-term threat, not only to cybersecurity but also to national defense and democratic stability. Moscow combines cyberattacks with other non-military tactics to weaken states, undermine trust in democratic institutions, and destabilize economies, the agency says in the document. China, meanwhile, is described as a challenge to the entire democratic world. According to NÚKIB, Beijing seeks to reshape the international order and replace the United States as the global leader, using cyber operations, socioeconomic pressure, and hybrid tactics. The government will discuss the new strategy on Wednesday.
