Run for Memory of Nations underway
The tenth edition of the traditional Run for the Memory of the Nation kicks off in Chomutov on May 1st. Participants will donate their entry fees to preserve the memories of war veterans, Holocaust victims and political prisoners collected by the non-profit organization Post Bellum. In the course of May, participants will be able to run a selected route in 18 cities - for example, in Brno, Jihlava, Prague or Olomouc. According to Mikuláš Kroupa, director of the Post Bellum non-profit organization, people most often run for politician Milada Horáková or General Heliodor Píka, who were murdered by the communists, but they can also run for unknown people with interesting fates. In the archive of the Memory of the Nation project there are over 17,000 war veterans, Holocaust victims and political prisoners.
