Report: Czechs spend less on printed books

The volume of the Czech book market reached CZK 8.4 billion last year, a drop by three percent on the previous year, according to newly released data by the Czech Association of Booksellers and Publishers.

According to the annual report, Czechs spent around CZK 7.8 billion on printed books, which is the lowest figure in the last five years. In contrast, the market for e-books and audiobooks continues to grow.

Some 14,500 book titles were published in Czechia last year, which is roughly 300 more than in the previous year. The highest number of books, over 1,000, was published by the market leader Albatros Media.
