Record 655 people with “Havlíček moustaches” meet to mark writer’s birth

A record 655 sporting moustaches in the style of writer and journalist Karel Havlíček Borovský, born 200 years ago, met on Saturday in the town of Havlíčkův Brod, on the square Havlíčkův náměstí.

Collectively, they set a new Czech record of people with such a moustache (real or glued on) in one place. The gathering was held in tandem with a geocaching event.

Karel Havlíček Borovský is considered the founder of Czech journalism, satire and literary criticism. He was born on October 31, 1821 in Borová (today Havlíčkova Borová). His parents later moved to Německý (Havlíčkov) Brod.
