Real wages in Czechia fall 9.8 percent in second quarter

Taking into account inflation, real wages in Czechia dropped by 9.8 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of this year, according to official data released on Monday. It is the third quarter in a row that they have fallen.

Economists had expected a decline of that order in the second quarter and say it should be the sharpest in the current period, the Czech News Agency reported.

However, analysts say that high inflation will cause a depreciation in wage growth throughout 2022.

Year-on-year inflation in Czechia reached 17.5 percent in August.
