Radio: Ministry purchasing syringes unsuitable for Pfizer vaccine
The Czech Ministry of Health has purchased nearly two million syringes that are not suitable for administering some Covid-19 vaccines, Czech Radio reported on Thursday. It said the syringes, which have fixed needles, are not the right type for the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, but do work with those produced by other companies. To date Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines have been predominantly used in the Czech Republic.
Czech Radio also said that syringes with fixed needles were more painful, carried a risk of infections and made it relatively hard to set correct doses.
The minister of health, Jan Blatný, said his officials had also ordered syringes without fixed needles.
