PwC: Czech women earn 17% less than men in same positions

Czech women are falling behind in the labor market, ranking 23rd out of 33 OECD countries, according to the latest PwC Women in Work study released on Friday. The report highlights a significant gender pay gap, with women earning 17% less than men in the same positions.

On average, a woman in the same role as her male counterpart earns 17.1% less in Czechia, a slight improvement from last year’s 17.4% gap. However, progress has been slow—back in 2000, the gap was 22%.

The report suggests increasing the availability of part-time and job-sharing positions, especially for women returning from parental leave. Only 8% of women in Czechia work part-time, while in many developed European countries, two-thirds of women have part-time jobs.
