Public Internet stations to appear on Czech streets
According to plans announced three years ago there should now be hundreds of public Internet stations on the streets of the Czech Republic - however there is currently only one Internet station in the country, at Prague airport. The reason for the delay - disputes between the major players and a lack of finance. Ceske Radiokomunikace and Cesky Internet were to launch a joint project but parted company. Cesky Telecom then entered the game - it introduced a public Internet station at Prague Castle, but it was removed when Cesky Internet won an injunction against it. Now Cesky Telecom is planning to launch a pilot project involving 30 Internet stations. Cesky Internet says it will have 1000 Internet stations by the end of 2002 - if it finds a strategic partner.
