Public EV charging expands rapidly, but Czechia still behind Western Europe
The number and use of public electric vehicle charging stations in the Czech Republic continues to rise but the country still lags behind Western and Northern Europe in charging density and electric vehicle uptake, according to the Transport Research Centre. After the first three quarters of 2025, major network operators report double-digit increases in both power consumption and charging sessions, along with steady growth in the number of stations now exceeding 3,000 nationwide. According to the Centre, electric cars accounted for 5.6% of new passenger vehicle registrations this year, up from about 4.2% in 2024.
