Psychiatrists: Social isolation has caused extensive damage

Social isolation during the lockdown period has significantly increased anxiety and depressive disorders in the society, according to experts from the non-profit organization Fokus.

According to psychiatrists the effects of long-term stress will be felt for months after the coronavirus epidemic is brought under control. They point out that long-term stress does not only affect the psyche, but causes a variety of other psychosomatic problems – such as stomach problems and headaches.

The lockdown has also aggravated the problem of domestic violence and increased people’s dependency on alcohol.
