Professional body hits back at minister over rejection of judge
The Czech Union of Judges has strongly rejected the reasons offered by the minister of justice, Pavel Blažek, for not appointing Aleš Novotný deputy chair of the Regional Court in Brno. Mr. Blažek says that Mr. Novotný has repeatedly harmed the Czech state by issuing unlawful rulings.
In a statement on Monday the Union of Judges said this explanation was unacceptable and highly dangerous with regard to the future.
A spokesperson for Mr. Blažek said he would be glad to discuss the matter with judges’ representatives.
