Presidents of Czechia, Slovakia and Austria to meet in Slavkov u Brna
The presidents of Czechia (Petr Pavel), Slovakia (Peter Pellegrini) and Austria (Alexander Van der Bellen) will meet on Wednesday at the castle in Slavkov u Brna, also known as Austerlitz, to discuss cross-border cooperation, transport infrastructure and foreign policy. This is the first presidential summit of the Slavkov format (S3), which Czechia currently chairs. The summit will also include a meeting of high-school students from the border regions of all three countries who have led successful projects in the field of innovation and new technology
The main topic of the meeting will be the assessment of cross-border cooperation. It will focus on the lessons learned in dealing with real crisis situations, such as the Coronavirus pandemic, the tornado in 2021, or last year's floods. The debate on the current foreign policy situation will cover the latest developments regarding Russian aggression in Ukraine, the future of relations between Europe and the United States, and the enlargement of the European Union to include other countries.
