President Zeman signs amendment to Copyright Act
Entrepreneurs will no longer have to pay royalties for music playing on the radio as a soundtrack in their shop or restaurant. President Miloš Zeman has signed an amendment to the Copyright Act, which will bring about the change, despite objections from copyright administrators and producers in the audiovisual industry. Reproduced music in a store, restaurant or hairdressers salon, which is non-profit-making and independent of the recipient's wishes, will not be subject to royalties.
