President Zeman may be moved to regular hospital room soon

President Miloš Zeman who is in intensive care at Prague’s Central Military Hospital may soon be moved to a regular hospital room, the news site Seznam.cz reported late on Monday citing hospital spokeswoman Jitka Zinke. Zinke told Seznam the move would likely be made in the very near future, although no date had been set.

Meanwhile, the medical council which is due to assess the health of President Miloš Zeman, will meet on Friday, November 5th. The nine-member council is expected to issue a statement on the president’s state of health and a prognosis regarding the chances of recovery.

Outgoing Charles University rector Tomáš Zima, who is a memebr of the council, said the team would not be rushed into reaching a conclusion in time for November 8, when the new Chamber of Deputies will convene for its first session. He also ruled out the possibility that the medical team would express an opinion regarding the need to activate Article 66 of the constitution in order to transfer the president’s powers to other state officials.

President Zeman was admitted to Prague’s Central Military Hospital on October 10, where he remains in intensive care with an undisclosed chronic condition.
