President Zeman grants pardon to ex-PM Nečas’s wife sentenced over abuse of power

Miloš Zeman has granted a presidential pardon to Jana Nečasová (formerly Nagyová), a former chief prime ministerial aide, who received a suspended sentence in a military intelligence abuse case which contributed to the fall of the government in 2013.

The wife of former Prime Minister Petr Nečas was sentenced to three years in prison in 2017 with a five-year suspended sentence and a 10-year ban on holding senior positions in the state administration.

She was found guilty of abusing her public position by ordering the army’s intelligence service to spy on Mr. Nečas’ then-wife. By obtaining information about her supposed infidelity, she wanted to hasten Nečas’s divorce.
