President Zeman expresses support for Belarusian opposition, praises Tsikhanouskaya’s courage

President Miloš Zeman received the visiting Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya at Prague Castle on Tuesday expressing support for the Belarusian opposition and praising Tsikhanouskaya’s courage. Mr. Zeman said he wished the Belorussian opposition victory in the fight against the last European dictator.

Ms.Tsikhanouskaya is also due to meet with Prime Minister Andrej Babiš before making an appearance at an evening concert in honour of the victims of persecution in Belarus.

Ms.Tsikhanouskaya, who is here at the invitation of the Senate chair, addressed the upper chamber on Moday, calling on the Czech Republic to be consistent in its approach to what she referred to as the unlawful and terrorist regime of President Alexander Lukashenko.
