President Zeman to appoint Vladimír Balaš as education minister on Wednesday

President Miloš Zeman will appoint MP Vladimír Balaš as the new education minister on Wednesday, Prime Minister Petr Fiala told journalists after his meeting with the president on Monday evening. The president will meet with Mr. Balaš on Tuesday.

The current education minister, Petr Gazdík, is stepping down at the end of June after being linked to the businessman Michal Redl, the alleged ringleader in the Prague city hall and public transport company corruption case.
