President Pavel meets representatives of Czechia’s Association of Regions

President Petr Pavel received representatives of the Council of the Czech Republic’s Association of Regions at Prague Castle on Thursday. The discussions included transferring funding for non-teaching school staff from the state to school founders, primarily municipalities and regions, as well as road repair funding and the reimbursement decree.

The meeting with current and former regional governors and Prague mayors was held to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the regions. The Czech head of state emphasized the regions’ crucial role in managing crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, floods, and the South Moravia tornado, noting that they have become a standard part of the Czech political system, serving as a link between municipalities and the state.
