President Pavel at Auschwitz: We must stand up to aggressors

Attending a commemorative ceremony at Auschwitz on Holocaust Remembrance Day, Czech President Petr Pavel stressed the importance of learning the lessons of the past so as to prevent history repeating itself. In an interview for Polish Television, Mr. Pavel called the Holocaust the worst case of genocide in history and warned against interpreting freedom of speech as the right to spread hate. He said it was essential to stand up to aggressors and confront them from the start so as to prevent attacks against a group of people and demonstrations of hatred growing into something bigger.
