President Pavel appoints new rectors of Palacký University and Academy of Fine Arts

President Pavel has appointed two new rectors for Czech higher education: Palacký University in Olomouc will be led by MP Michael Kohajda, while the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague will be led by curator and educator Tomáš Pospiszyl. They will take office on May 1st, and this is their first term of office. Mr. Kohajda was elected by the Academic Senate of Palacký University in Olomouc in January, and Mr. Pospiszyl by the Academic Senate of the Academy of Fine Arts in early March.

"Recently, we have been using the word 'education' a lot, education as a priority. Unfortunately, we have not yet managed to make it a real priority," said President Pavel. He therefore asked the rectors to do their utmost in their positions to ensure that education as a lifelong activity is perceived as a priority. According to him, this also includes educating the general public and popularising science.
