Prague’s Motol and Homolka hospitals to merge in 2026

Prague’s Motol University Hospital and Homolka Hospital will merge under a single management, Health Minister Vlastimil Válek (Spolu) announced at a press briefing in Prague. “The aim is to connect two top-level institutions in terms of expertise and capacity into a strong unit. This will lead to significant savings in operational agendas,” the minister said. The merged institution will be led by its current director Petr Polouček, who previously headed Homolka and later took over Motol after is former director Miloslav Ludvík was charged with corruption. Motol Hospital is already the biggest hospital in the Czech Republic.
