Prague weighing stricter measures after record jump in known Covid cases
There were 220 newly recorded cases of Covid-19 in Prague in the previous 24-period, the city’s chief hygiene officer, Zdeňka Jágrová, said on Tuesday evening. This was the biggest one-day jump in coronavirus numbers in the Czech capital since the start of the pandemic.
The Prague authorities are now considering introducing stricter regulations in a bid to contain the virus. Following a meeting of Mayor Zdeňek Hřib, other councilors and public health officials on Tuesday it was decided to draw up fresh measures this week.
Ms. Jágrová recently described the coronavirus situation in the city as “alarming”. At that time around 100 new cases were being registered in the capital daily.
