Prague Stock Exchange closed trading at highest level yet

On Tuesday, the Prague Stock Exchange closed trading at its highest level yet, with the PX index rising 1.11% to 1,940.44 points, surpassing its record close on October 29th 2007, according to data from the stock exchange website. This was helped in particular by shares in the banking sector.

The total volume of trades in Prague on Thursday reached an above-average 632 million crowns. More than half of this was provided by Komerční banka securities. Shares in the tobacco company Philip Morris ČR rose by 1.15% to 17,560 crowns, and the beverage company Kofola appreciated by 1.19% to 425 crowns "I do not rule out that the Prague Stock Exchange can maintain its growth trajectory in the coming days," said Wood & Company broker Vladimír Vávra. The Czech crown weakened slightly against the euro, and strengthened against the dollar.
