Prague sees huge interest in free Covid testing

Hospitals in Prague are recording huge interest in free antigen testing for Covid-19, which starts in the Czech Republic on December 18. Several testing sites in the capital, which have already launched their reservation system, are already fully booked until Christmas Day.

The antigen tests will be conducted at around 2,000 places, including existing testing centres and doctors’ surgeries, with GPs taking part on a voluntary basis. Unlike the standard PCR tests, the antigen tests are faster and logistically easier, but also less accurate.

The free Covid testing will run until January 15 and people will be allowed to undergo one test in a five-day period.
