Prague observatory exhibits precious Moon meteorites
The Stefanik Observatory in Prague is exhibiting two newly discovered meteorites from the Moon. The exhibition, which opens on Tuesday, marks the 35th anniversary of the landing of the first manned mission on the Moon.
The two pieces of Moon rock were lent to the observatory by a private collector. Meteorite expert Petr Jakes, the only Czech who took part in NASA's research of moon rock, has said the two meteorites were found in African deserts and were identified by Czech scientists. The Stefanik Observatory on Petrin Hill in Prague is being closely guarded as the value of the two meteorites has been estimated at 2 million crowns (66,000 euros).
