Prague Hygiene Office expected to bring back face masks in enclosed spaces soon
The Prague Hygiene Office is likely to reintroduce compulsory face masks in enclosed spaces in the coming weeks, Prague Mayor Zdeněk Hřib told journalists following a meeting of the City Council on Monday.
He said the office was waiting for temperatures to fall before making masks compulsory in Prague’s trams and busses, adding that people who were able to tolerate a facemask in the heat were advised to wear one even now in order to help contain the spread of the virus.
Prague has seen a spike in cases in recent days with a number of local outbreaks and the first signs of communal transmission appearing. In 18 percent of the cases registered the source of the infection could not be traced.
