Prague to host one of eight EU disinformation research centres

A Central European project focusing on disinformation research will be based in Prague, led by experts from the Czech Technical University (ČVUT) and Charles University. It is one of eight such EU centres selected by the European Commission to identify disinformation and study its influence on public opinion.

In part, the aim is to identify fake news using artificial intelligence (AI) and by strengthening digital and media education. The two Czech universities will cooperate with Slovakia’s Kempelen Institute of Intelligent Technologies (KInIT), the French press agency AFP and Polish partners. In its first two years, the Prague project will receive financial support from the EU and the Czech National Recovery Plan.
