Prague asks medical professionals to help in overloaded hospitals, vaccination centres
The Prague City Council has requested volunteer help from medical professionals in outpatient centres due to a shortage of staff in the capital’s hospitals and vaccination centres, stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the coming days, the council will make a similar request of general practitioners to help in the emergency services, Prague Mayor Zdeněk Hřib told a press conference on Friday.
Hřib said Prague will be short some 300 doctors and nurses by the end of December. Many are currently doing volunteer work with the Czech Red Cross in five Prague hospitals but more have asked for help, he said.
