Police report increase in illegal migrants

Czech police have reported an increase in the number of illegal migrants detained on Czech territory in the first quarter of this year. In the January-to-March period police apprehended 2,658 illegal migrants, an increase of 767 persons, or 40.6 %, compared to the same period last year.  The highest number of illegal migrants came from Ukraine (1,016 persons), Moldova (456 persons) and Syria (146 persons).
