Police raid headquarters of leading health insureer VZP

Police have carried out raids at the headquarters of the General Health Insurance Company (VZP) and at another ten pharmaceutical companies, the Czech News Agency reported.

The operation, confirmed by a VZP spokesperson and a representative of the pharmaceutical industry, is reportedly linked to agreements concluded between the companies and the country's leading health insurer in the past.

Three people are reported to have been detained, including Petr Hoňek, a former deputy director of VZP. No charges have been filed so far.
