Police prevent protesters from gathering in downtown Prague

Police in Prague prevented protesters against respirators and other government Covid measures from gathering on the city’s Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square on Sunday afternoon. Only 100 people, the maximum allowed under the relevant legislation, were allowed to enter each location and riot police clashed with some who attempted to make it to the venues. A number of arrests were made.

Earlier the police had prevented buses of protesters from coming to the capital from other parts of the country.

At present strict restrictions are in place preventing movement between different districts and only essential contact between people from the same family is permitted.
