Police management not happy with selected means of upcoming police protest

The police management does not consider the selected means of the police protest planned for November 4 to November 8 appropriate, although it backs the protest as such, police chief Martin Vondrášek told the ctk news agency. The Union of the Security Forces said this week that because officers are not allowed to strike, they would protest by not issuing fines and responding later than usual to calls where lives are not in danger.

The police has complained about a lack of money for operations and salaries. The force is currently short of nearly 2,400 police officers and 1,000 firefighters. Many members of the force are considering leaving.
