Police investigating contamination of Bílina River

Police are investigating the contamination of the river Bílina, where fishermen reported hundreds of dead fish along a stretch of the river on Sunday. Experts have taken samples of the water which is murky and smelly in the respective location.

The river which flows through the heavily industrialized region of north Bohemia has a sad record in water contamination. Despite this in the past three decades the quality of water in the river has improved and fisheries regularly introduce new fish in order to maintain a health fish population.
