Police investigate racist posts linked to Motorists party’s Filip Turek

Czech police are investigating racist and homophobic social media posts allegedly written by Filip Turek, honorary chairman of the Motorists party and a potential nominee for foreign minister. Deník N on Friday published an archive of Turek’s deleted Facebook posts, which included hate speech and references to Adolf Hitler.

The daily reported that the posts also downplayed a 2009 arson attack in Vítkov that injured a two-year-old Roma girl and referred to the 2019 New Zealand mosque shootings as “cleaning.” Police said on X that they are reviewing the findings and noted that the journalist who broke the story has faced online harassment.

In an interview with Czech Television on Saturday, Turek denied writing the posts, calling the case “a disgusting smear campaign” and “manipulation aimed at blocking the formation of a new government.”
