Police increase vigilance at Hockey Championships following Fico shooting
Czech police have increased their vigilance at the Ice Hockey World Championships, especially in Ostrava, where the Slovak team is playing in the preliminary group, following the assassination attempt against the Slovak Prime Minister, Robert Fico, a spokesperson for the police presidium said on Thursday. He also said that the police have no information that a similar attack is imminent in Czechia.
On Wednesday, police wrote on the X network that they had stepped up security measures at high-risk areas and increased surveillance at the Slovak embassy in Prague.
