Police to crack down on breach of quarantine rules

The police will be tasked with making random checks of people in quarantine to make sure they are observing the restrictions in place, Interior Minister Jan Hamáček said after Monday’s cabinet meeting. Mr. Hamáček said that cracking down on potential breach of quarantine rules would help curb the spread of the epidemic and act as a deterrent in the case of individuals who refuse to cooperate with the authorities. Anyone caught violating the rules will face criminal prosecution for spreading a communicable disease. The police will receive lists of people in quarantine from regional hygiene stations, Mr. Hamáček said, adding that an earlier problem with privacy and data protection had now been resolved.
