PM: Queen’s funeral was dignified, spiritual and grandiose
Monday’s funeral of Queen Elizabeth II was dignified, spiritual and carried an air of the greatness of the deceased monarch, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala told Czech Television after the event. The Czech head of government, together with his wife, represented Czechia at the funeral in London. He was seated in Westminster Abbey behind US President Joe Biden, something that Fiala said was a dignified position for Czechia.
The Czech prime minister said that he also had the opportunity to speak to Britain’s new monarch, Charles III, and invited him to Prague. Charles III, for his part, recalled meeting Mr Fiala 12 years ago when the Czech was still a university professor. He also mentioned the projects that he took part in in Czechia, such as helping restore the Baroque gardens below Prague Castle.
Charles III, Mr Fiala said, has all the prerequisites to be a good king, possessing humanity, empathy and an interest in current world issues.
