Government to accept more anti-Covid measures on Thursday

The Czech government will accept further measures aimed at countering the spread of the coronavirus epidemic on Thursday. The plan was originally announced for Friday by outgoing Prime Minister Andrej Babiš in a Wednesday interview on Radio Impuls. However, a cabinet spokesman later told the Czech News Agency that the government meeting will take place a day earlier. The specific measures are currently being prepared by the Ministry of Health. Mr Babiš also did not deny that the government could enact a state of emergency.

In Thursday’s radio interview, Mr Babiš said that the government is increasing the number of vaccine centres and that a hospital bed dispatch system has been prepared. He did not wish to comment on the coronavirus plan of the incoming government, but urged Czechs to get vaccinated.
